This is a list of state parks and reserves in the New Mexico state park system. The system began with the establishment of Bottomless Lakes State Park on November 18, 1933. New Mexico currently has 35 state parks. It has been calculated that 70% of the state's population lives within 40 miles (64 km) of a New Mexico state park.
Stay Limit. Campers may stay in a park for a maximum of 14 days during a 20-day period. Campers shall completely remove camping equipment and gear from the park for 7 calendar days. during the 20-day period. The exception is at Hyde Memorial State Park – the campsites with electric hookups have a 7-day limit.
