Nov 1, 2023 · You are eligible to be issued a New York State disability parking permit through NYC DOT if you are a New York City resident and have a permanent or temporary qualifying impairment that severely impacts your ability to walk, as certified by a New York State-licensed physician or podiatrist.
If you are a resident or non-resident of the City and have a permanent disability that seriously impairs mobility and requires the use of a private vehicle for transportation, you may be eligible. Please note that commercial vehicle plates, dealer plates or plates for a rental vehicle cannot be listed on a PPPD permit.
A parking permit may be issued for either a permanent or temporary disability. Permits are issued in the name of the person with the disability. You do not have to be a driver, or the registered owner of a vehicle, to get a parking permit.
