Newark Castle (Ayr) - Past and Present. Newark Castle is situated close to the seaside town of Ayr. It is a commodious mansion of many periods but its most striking aspect is the tall, harled tower rising from a rocky base. Newark pictured around 1900.
NS 322-174 Ayrshire Scotland. Newark Castle is a late 15th or early 16th century stone tower house, founded by Kennedy of Bargany. Of four storeys and a garret, with a square gabled caphouse and a corbelled-out parapet with open rounds on the angles.
