Newcastle Church High Alumnae. Vincit Omnia Veritas From 1889 to 2014 Tankerville Terrace was home to the girls of Newcastle upon Tyne Church High School and, while the pupils and staff that defined the school have left, the Church High School spirit very much lives on in its red bricks, albeit under a slightly different name.
In September 2014, Church High School and Central Newcastle High School merged to become Newcastle High School for Girls. Founded in 1872, and 1876 respectively, both were established to offer girls an exceptional education and to ensure girls and young women could have an equal place in the world.
In 1883, The Church Schools’ Company decided to open similar schools to those of the GPDST but with a clear element of church teaching in the curriculum.
