The first NFL draft began at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Philadelphia on February 8, 1936. Ninety names were written on a blackboard in the meeting room from which the teams would choose. Pro Day
Each university has a Pro Day, during which the NCAA allows NFL scouts to visit the school and watch players participate in NFL Combine-like events and drills. Some smaller universities join with nearby schools. They are essentially job fairsfor prospective NFL players.
