    Nick Offerman was born in Joliet, Illinois but grew up in Minooka, Illinois. His mother was a nurse and his father was a teacher in nearby Channahon. Offerman attended the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign from 1988 to 1993, completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts. After that, he and a group of fellow students co-founded the Defiant Theatre, a Chicago-based theatre company. Offerman continued to work in theaters, until his first film role in 1997 on the film Going All the Way. After that, he has appeared in films like City of Angels (with Colm Feore), Treasure Island (with Pat Healy), Murder by Numbers (with Neal Matarazzo), Sin City (with Powers Boothe and Jude Ciccolella), 21 Jump Street, The Men Who Stare at Goats (with Glenn Morshower), The Kings of Summer (with Mary Lynn Rajskub), and We're the Millers.
