The Noguchi Museum Shop is a music-filled showroom for Isamu Noguchi’s Akari light sculptures and a sales space for artists and designers whose work embodies Noguchi’s legacy of craft and form.
The fabrication of Akari in Japan at Ozeki & Co. since 1951 follows the traditional methods for Japanese Gifu lanterns. Each Akari is handcrafted beginning with the making of washi paper from the inner bark of the mulberry tree. Bamboo ribbing is stretched across sculptural molded wood forms.

Aug 28, 2024 · Hours. Wednesday–Sunday. 11 am–6 pm. Monday–Tuesday. Closed. Advance reservations are recommended, but not required. The last entry is at 5:30 pm, and the Shop closes at 5:45 pm. The Museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Book a Visit. Free First Friday. Admission is free on the first Friday of every month.
