I read this book many years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it on this occasion. It is an excellent story of a young man in 1930 USA whose main aim in life is to be a doctor. His practice is in a small American town where he also attends the County hospital and it makes for interesting (and horrific) reading to hear about the methods of treatment ...
