Nubia ( / ˈnjuːbiə /) ( Nobiin: Nobīn, [2] Arabic: النُوبَة, romanized :an-Nūba) is a region along the Nile river encompassing the area between the first cataract of the Nile (south of Aswan in southern Egypt) and the confluence of the Blue and White Niles (in Khartoum in central Sudan ), or more strictly, Al Dabbah.

Nubia was created by Robert Kanigher and Don Heck in 1973. While Kanigher had previously written Wonder Womanfor nine years, he had left to work on other projects. He and then-partner Heck created Nubia in his first issue back on Wonder Woman (#204 in January 1973), part of a one-year stint for the team.
