   • That’s exactly what Henry VIII decided on when he built Oatlands Palace near the Surrey town of Weybridge for his fourth wife Anne of Cleeves. Already a popular hunting spot for the King, he rebuilt the existing house after acquiring it in 1538 turning it into a lavish house with red Tudor brick and even golden cloth curtains for his wife's bed.

The palace also had a number of gardens. Sadly, most of the palace was demolished in the 17th century and nothing remains today except a gateway.
