May 25, 2016 · Ode to Joy did such an awesome job in taking a group of five unique characters and plopping them in the middle of Shanghai. They captured the struggles and obstacles of the women perfectly (the subtle social commentary was absolutely amazing and so well done in a country where dramas usually tend to act as propaganda for the government).

I was a little reluctant to watch Ode to Joy at first because the story line didn’t seem that interesting but I’m glad I did because it was a lot more entertaining than I thought. The drama was released back in mid-2016 starring Liu Tao, Wang Ziwen, Jiang Xin, Yang Zi and Qian Xin with a total of 42 episodes.
