The Official Language of Sri Lanka shall be Sinhala. According to the 13th Amendment to the Constitution of 1978, Tamil shall also be an Official Language and English shall be the Link Language.

The main languages spoken in Sri Lanka are Tamil and Sinhala . Several languages are spoken in Sri Lanka within the Indo-Aryan, Austronesian, and Dravidian families. Sri Lanka accords official status to Sinhala and Tamil, and English as a recognised language.
