Oldřich was the fourth (third surviving) son of Duke Boleslaus II of Bohemia (d. 999). [1] Like all his father's children, his mother was Adiva. Upon the death of his father, his eldest brother Boleslaus III succeeded as duke, however, he soon entered into a fierce conflict with his younger brothers Oldřich and Jaromír.

Oldřich (c. 975 – 11 November 1034) was the Duke of Bohemia from 1012 to 1033 and briefly in 1034. He was a son of Boleslaus II and brother of Boleslaus III and Jaromír. Life. Oldřich deposed Jaromír on 12 April 1012 and recognised the suzerainty of the Holy Roman Emperor.
