   UNESCO protected Kaunas Old Town is the main attraction in Kaunas and I love it here. Walk down Laisves Avenue (Freedom Avenue) away from the big domed church and it’s on your left. A chocolate-box old town with the orange, lemon and lime shaded buildings making up its soft-centre (ahhhh).

   Is Kaunas Old Town closed?

   • Until summer 2023, the main walking street of the Kaunas Old Town (Vilnius street), is COMPLETELY closed, due to construction works. I did not see this information anywhere so I was quite shocked when I got there ! This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.

While we’ve been missing many businesses located on the pedestrian avenue, the truth is, this does not mean the whole of the Old Town is closed for visitors!
