Under the year 1204, a number of chronicles state that Oleg Svyatoslavich of Chernigov died, while others add that his son died with him. The chroniclers do not identify Oleg's successor at the time of his death, but later evidence confirms that his brother, Vsevolod replaced him.

Although Oleg's father Sviatoslav II had reigned as grand prince of Kiev from 1073 until his death in 1076, he had seized power out of order by driving out is brother Iziaslav I. However, the latter regained the Kievan throne from 1076 until his death in 1078, to be succeeded by their youngest brother Vsevolod. [28]

Aug 5, 2023 · Oleg Svyatoslavich (c. 1052 - August 1115) was a Rurikid prince whose equivocal adventures ignited political unrest in Kievan Rus' in the late 11th and early 12th centuries. Oleg was a younger son of Sviatoslav II Yaroslavich / Prince of Chernigov (1027 - 1076) by his first wife, Killikiya.
His half-brother, Oleg Sviatoslavich died on January 16, 1180; thus Igor left Putivl to succeed him in Novgorod Severskiy. [2] Soon after Oleg Sviatoslavich's death, grand prince Sviatoslav III Vsevolodovich of Kiev summoned Igor and Igor's brother Vsevolod Svyatoslavich to Lyubech and concluded an agreement. [2]
