- It won three Academy Awards from ten nominations. As well as being popular with critics and eventually becoming the second highest grossing film of 1981, On Golden Pond was also nominated for an impressive ten Academy Awards.
- The water in the lake was actually only knee-deep. On Golden Pond was filmed at Squam lake in Holderness, New Hampshire, and filming the scene where Chelsea and Billy Ray are supposedly clinging onto rocks for dear life proved to be difficult.
