Aug 15, 2017 · Oslo's Rådhus has become an iconic symbol of the city, ironic given that it's rather clunky & dated looking from the outside; to my mind, the two towers just aren't very interesting, just two big blocks of reddish brick with a clock on the side of one of them; but the charms of the Norwegian capital's City Hall are all in the details, both at the entrance to the Rådhus & inside.

  3. Oslo City Hall is a 10 minute walk from the cruise terminal where our cruise ship had docked, next to Akershus Fortress. Our interest was to see the location where The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded on 10 Dec every year. Definitely worth the visit if you are in Oslo.

Constructed between 1931 and 1950, the building also has event space and royal roots to history. Walk inside (FREE!!) to tour the art and decor inside. The ballroom and space.

  6. The City Hall is richly decorated with sculptures and bas-reliefs made by famous Norwegian artists. The square in front of the main entrance to the town Hall is decorated with a fountain with two bronze swans (Svanegruppe) by the sculptor Dyre Vaa. The main entrance to the town Hall was designed by Nicolai Marius "Nic" Schiøll.
