The Nichols Arboretum Loop Trail in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is described as a pleasant hike with good conditions and minimal bugs, especially in mild weather in early April. Recent reviews mention a snowy day in late March causing some slippery sections on steps but still an enjoyable hike overall.
That said, Nichols Arboretum is where we keep the pretty in Ann Arbor. For the water-body-deprived, one of the main paths follows the Huron River for a while. Other paths lead to a prairie, through standard forest preserve mediocrity, to private property at one point, and past smattering of numbered trees representing the indigenous flora.
