Mar 5, 2024 · Patricia Collins, the mother of Republican U.S. Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, has died. Pat Collins moved to the state to attend the University of Maine. She later became the first female chair of the university system's Board of Trustees, as well as the first elected female mayor of Caribou, where she lived the rest of her life.

Mar 5, 2024 · CARIBOU, Maine — Patricia Collins, mother of U.S. Sen. Susan M. Collins and her five siblings, died Tuesday. She was 96. Collins was born in Colombia, South America, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Foskett) McGuigan, and later moved New York. She came north to attend the University of Maine, according to her obituary.
