Patrick Swayze, the hunky actor who danced his way into viewers’ hearts with “Dirty Dancing” and then broke them with “Ghost,” died Monday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.
Swayze passed away on September 14, 2009 at the age of 57, 20 months after his cancer diagnosis. It is estimated that pancreatic cancer will surpass breast and colon cancer to become the second-leading cause of all cancer-related deaths in the United States by 2020.
