At peak bloom, The Arb’s garden holds around 800 peonies and over 10,000 flowers. But there is even more to enjoy – the 34-acre park features three miles of trails and multiple conservatories with breathtaking views.

May 22, 2024 · The garden can hold up to 800 peonies resulting in 10,000 blooms. It is the largest public collection of heritage peonies in North America. The garden features 350 varieties of historic herbaceous peonies from the US, Canada, and Europe. Many of these varieties are no longer commercially available.
The garden, begun in 1922 with a gift of peony plants from U-M alumnus W.E. Upjohn, celebrated its 99th year of bloom from about Memorial Day through mid-June. The garden's nearly 800 plants produce up to 10,000 flowers at peak bloom.
