The People's Action Party ( PAP) is a large centre-right political party in Singapore. [8] It is one of two main parties in the Parliament of Singapore, with the other being the Workers' Party. [9] [10] It was started in 1954 and supported Singapore being independent from Malaysia. It has been in charge of Singapore since the 1959 general election.
