The stadium is named for the late Peter Barton, who was the former president and chief executive of cable television company Liberty Media Corp. Laura Barton, Peter Barton’s widow, donated the lead gift for the $6.32 million stadium complex.

Oct 16, 2023 · Peter Barton Stadium has a fresh look heading into the 2024 University of Denver lacrosse seasons. The new turf has a Denver skyline design that no other program in the country has. “The field is just fantastic,” said DU Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach Matt Brown.
On Feb. 9, the University of Denver women’s lacrosse team will strut onto the newly improved Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium for the 2024 season opener against Louisville. Last season, the Pioneers made program history by going undefeated (17-0) in the regular season and finishing 22-1 overall after falling to Northwestern in the national semifinals.
