The Indians involved in this incident had been performing raids all over New Hampshire, looting homes and killing residents, and were en-route to Canada when they crossed paths with Peter Poor. After they killed Peter, they ransacked his house. Peter's wife Elizabeth later fled for southern New Hampshire on horseback with their two small children.
