Apr 6, 2003 · Philip Yordan, the controversial and colorful Hollywood writer and producer who won an Oscar for his work and acted as a front for blacklisted colleagues during the McCarthy era, has died. He was 88. Mr. Yordan died March 24 at the Scripps Memorial Hospital in San Diego of pancreatic cancer, according to his family.
