Microsoft released a new version of the Photos app for Windows 11 in October 2022 that supports iCloud integration.

Apple® has released iCloud® for Windows 14.2. With this update, iCloud Photos and Windows Photos app are synced—if you delete iCloud Photos in the Windows Photos app it will also delete these photos from your iCloud account. See the iCloud section below for more details.

To find out which version of the Photos app you are running:

1.In the search box on the taskbar, type photos and then select the Photos app from the results.

2.Select Settings, and under the About section, select About Photos.

The Photos app automatically displays the photos and videos in the Pictures folder on your PC and OneDrive. Here’s how to add more source folders to the Pictures folder.

1.In the search box on the taskbar, type photos and then select the Photos app from the results.

2.Go to Folders in the left navigation bar.

    3.Select Add a folder .

4.Find the folder on your PC that you'd like the Photos app to include, and choose Select Folder to add it to the app.

The Photos app will show updated content from the new folders as you add and remove content.

You can import photos and videos you have stored on a camera’s SD card, a USB drive, a phone, or on another device.

1.Use a USB cable to connect your device to the PC.

2.In the search box on the taskbar, type photos and then select the Photos app from the results.

3.Select Import from the App bar.

4.Your devices will automatically show under Connected devices. Choose your device from the list of connected devices.

5.Select the photos and videos you would like to import.

The Photos app can connect to your OneDrive account so you can see all your photos and videos in one place. You can view these on the OneDrive tab in the Photos app once you’ve connected to your OneDrive account.

The OneDrive tab in the Photos app only displays photos and videos that are stored in the Pictures folder on OneDrive.

When you view a photo or video in your OneDrive cloud collection, it automatically downloads to your Windows machine. Once downloaded, any changes you make to that photo or video file—move, edit, delete—will sync back to your OneDrive.

In the Photos app’s OneDrive tab, you'll see your personal albums and features such as OneDrive memories. OneDrive memories are automatically generated by OneDrive, not the Photos app. You can view memories and albums by selecting them in the Photos app, which takes you to their location on your OneDrive synced on the web.

To connect to OneDrive in the Photos app:

1.In the search box on the taskbar, type photos and then select the Photos app from the results.

One of the simplest ways to copy all your photos and videos to one place in the Photos app is to set up automatic upload to OneDrive of Photos from your mobile device.

1.On your Windows PC, open the Photos app and sign in to your OneDrive account by selecting the OneDrive tab tab in the left navigation bar. This allows OneDrive content to sync to the Photos app.

2.Then, on your iOS or Android device, install the OneDrive app. You can download the latest version from your phone's Android or iOS app store.

3.From the OneDrive app on your iOS or Android device, turn on Camera Upload in the OneDrive app’s settings. The latest photos and videos that you take will automatically start uploading to OneDrive.

Connect your Windows Photos app and iCloud Photos with the iCloud for Windows app.

    To connect to iCloud:

1.In the search box on the taskbar, type photos and then select the Photos app from the results.

2.Go to the iCloud Photos tab.

3.Select the Get iCloud for Windows button. You will be prompted to go to the Microsoft Store and download the iCloud for Windows app.

4.Open the iCloud for Windows app, sign in to iCloud with your Apple ID, and then choose Photos on the iCloud app to view your iCloud media in the Photos app.
