On the third Saturday of February, 1846, a growing group of Christ followers met at the log cabin home of Charles Throop. There they formed the Lonesome Dove Baptist Church. At the time of its founding there were no other churches within many miles, and no other evangelical church between Grapevine-Southlake and the Pacific Ocean.

Aug 6, 2019 · The negative reviews contain many complaints that the movie title is a deliberate attempt to mislead and even cheat people. In fact, the movie is loosely based on the founding of Lonesome Dove Church in Grapevine, Texas in 1846. The church is still active today. The movie is a little harder and more realistic western than I expected.
