Built in the late 1920s, the Plummer Building is listed as a National Historic Landmark and is named for Henry S. Plummer, M.D., one of the founders of Mayo Clinic and the man responsible for much of the medical record and registration systems still used by Mayo Clinic today.
1. dated July 28, 1961, Brioschi's son noted that Brioschi created many of the designs and models for the bronze doors while hospitalized at the Kahler Hospital in Rochester, MN. Each door weighs 4000 lb, stands 16 ft high, and is 5½ in thick. The doors consist of forty-two 18 × 21-in panels.
Built in 1928 and fifteen stories high, the building is named after Dr. Henry S. Plummer, one of the founders of the Mayo Clinic. He also helped design the building. In terms of architecture, the Plummer Building an excellent example of the Art Deco style.
