The 1990s saw an explosion of Christian rock in American culture, with numerous bands rising to mainstream popularity.
- David Crowder Band. The David Crowder Band is a Christian rock and modern worship group which was founded in 1995 by David Crowder, a student at Baylor University at the time.
- Anberlin. The band Anberlin was originally a punk band called SaGoh 24/7 until they decided to change their band name in 2002. Despite their songs containing many religious references, the band refuses to call themselves a Christian rock band.
