Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga (born June 29, 1945, Colombo, Ceylon [now Sri Lanka]) is a member of a prominent Sri Lankan political family, who was the first woman to serve as the country’s president (1994–2005). Chandrika Bandaranaike was the daughter of two former prime ministers.
