- Jennifer Ehle – Lizzy Bennet. Ehle won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Actress for her role as Elizabeth Bennet in Pride, going on to have a long film career (reuniting with Colin Firth in The King's Speech).
- Colin Firth – Fitzwilliam Darcy. Following his turn on Pride & Prejudice (as smouldering cad Mr Darcy), a role that turned him into a household name, Firth found it hard to get away from his typecasting as a brooding heartthrob – particularly in films such as Bridget Jones's Diary, which went as far as naming him Mark Darcy after his P&P character.
