Prince George's County (short PG County) is a county in the U.S. state of Maryland. It borders the eastern part of Washington, D.C. As of the 2020 census, 967,201 people lived there. Prince George's County has the second largest school system in the State of Maryland. Until July 1, 2024, the school system will operate under a combination of elected and appointed school board members and a County Superintendent. In the FY 2024 approved budget, the system employs about 20,155 full time employees, including 10,108 teachers.
