Layne Thomas Staley (born Layne Rutherford Staley; August 22, 1967 – April 5, 2002) [2] [3] was an American singer and songwriter who was the original lead vocalist of Alice in Chains, which rose to international fame in the early 1990s as part of Seattle 's grunge movement.
William DuVall. William DuVall joined Alice In Chains as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist in 2006, marking a new era for the band. His debut album with the band was “Black Gives Way to Blue” (2009), followed by “The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here” (2013) and “Rainier Fog” (2018).

Completely overshadowed by the success of Nirvana. AIC in my opinion wrote better songs, played MUCH better, and Layne Staley sang better than ol' kurt. One of my top "non prog" bands.
