Feb 25, 2023 · Karl "Quax" Schnörrer was a German fighter ace and military aviator in the Luftwaffe during World War II. He claimed 46 enemy aircraft shot down in 536 combat missions, 11 while flying the Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter in Defense of the Reich. Schnörrer was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 22 March 1945. He died on 25 September 1979 in Nuremberg.
