The Rabbi and Barbara are the proud parents of Daniel and Michael. Rabbi Jack Luxemburg, Rabbi Emeritus retired after 35 years as Temple Beth Ami’s Senior Rabbi, in July 2016. Beginning in July of 1981 as the congregation’s first full-time Rabbi, Rabbi Luxemburg has been part of the Temple Beth Ami community for more than half of its history.
The windows of the synagogue were designed by Frantz Kinnen. Construction began on June 12, 1951 on Avenue Monterey. The synagogue was consecrated on June 28, 1953 by Chief Rabbi Charles Lehrmann in the presence of Grand Duke Jean . In November 2018, a commemorative plaque was placed at the location of the destroyed synagogue on Rue Notre-Dame.

Daniel was born on Aug. 28, 1984, in Rockville to Barbara Etkind, an attorney, and Jack Luxemburg, a congregational rabbi. Daniel graduated from Green Acres School, Rockville, from Georgetown Day School in Washington and from Harvard University.
