Reading Rainbow. Launched in 1983, Reading Rainbow became the most watched PBS program in the classroom. The series was formulated because of the “summer loss phenomena," whereby a child loses some of his or her reading abilities because they tend not to read during the summer.
This episode of Reading Rainbow premiered on PBS in 2000. We are celebrating Reading Rainbow's 40th anniversary with the release of 40 full episodes of the classic PBS children's series. Look for new episodes every Tuesday and Thursday through February 2024 on the Reading Rainbow YouTube Channel.
