Born on August 16, 1940, in Plumer, PA, Pete was the son of the late John and Charlotte Greer Berry. Pete was a graduate of Oil City High School. He was married on April 22, 1961, to the former Gwendolyn “Gwen” Best and she survives.

Michael is a 1995 graduate of Oil City High School, and a 1999 graduate of Edinboro University and a 2000 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Michael had served as treasurer of the Theta Chi Fraternity while at Edinboro University.
