Black Americans also have higher divorce rates and lower remarriage rates than Whites [4,24].
Each of the factors has a profound relationship to marriage rates for both Black men and White men. Men in the top income decile married between five and ten times as frequently as men in the bottom decile. Employment and occupation also have a striking association with first marriage rates.
