Cannibal Corpse is a five-piece American death metal band formed in 1988 in Buffalo, New York.In 1989, they recorded a self-titled demo which drew the attention of Metal Blade Records, with whom they signed a contract to record their debut album Eaten Back to Life, released in 1990.

Cannibal Corpse have accumulated an enormous following since their inception and are officially the top-selling death metal artists of all time in the US. The band have also been accused of "undermining the national character of the United States" and seen their albums and indeed, themselves, banned in several countries.
Cannibal Corpse made a brief cameo appearance in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Chris Barnes left the band in 1995 to pursue a different musical project and is currently the vocalist for the band Six Feet Under. Rob Barrett also left the band and was replaced by Pat O'Brien. Barrett rejoined the band in 2005.
