Robert Lee Byrd (October 11, 1904 – May 20, 1978) was an architect in Los Angeles, California. Most of his buildings and residences are from the 1920s to the 1970s. In his later years he worked together with his architect son Gary Byrd.

Although Robert Byrd had a long and distinguished career as an architect of quality homes in Southern California, he was not a licensed architect (AIA). As a building designer, he built homes from the 1920s through the 1970s, while his son, Gary, built homes from the 1960s to the early 2000s.

Byrd (1904–1978) designed and built hundreds of homes throughout Southern California from the 1920s to the 1970s. Known for his indoor/outdoor style and whimsical design elements, Byrd was often credited as the inventor of the California ranch style of architecture.
