When she got older, Frost committed her to a mental hospital. The illness impacted other members of the family as well, such as Frost’s sister, who died in a mental hospital.

Their fifth child, Marjorie, was born in March, 1905. Robert Frost began teaching at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH in 1906. He held this position for five years. Pinkerton Academy now houses the Robert Frost Writing Center on campus. The Frosts’ sixth child, Elinor Bettina, was born in June of 1907; sadly, she passed away within a few days.
His son Carol took his own life in 1940, and a daughter, Irma, suffered a severe mental breakdown and was institutionalized. These disasters followed upon the death of his daughter Marjorie in 1934; she contracted a fever after giving birth and died slowly.
