McKimson started at Warners in 1931 and eventually became the longest continual employee at Warner Bros. I chatted with his son, Robert McKimson Jr., about his dad and growing up in the McKimson family.
Robert Porter McKimson Sr. (October 13, 1910 – September 29, 1977) was an American animator and illustrator, best known for his work on the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of cartoons from Warner Bros. Cartoons and later DePatie–Freleng Enterprises.

Consumer Products and the possessor of an extensive collection of his father's and uncles' work, he has given lectures all over the world about his famous family of animators. He lives in St. Johns, Florida.

Robert Porter McKimson was one of the principal creators of the Warner Bros. cartoons, first as the studio's most imposing animator and then as a long-tenured director. Such enduring characters as Foghorn Leghorn and the Tasmanian Devil first appeared in his cartoons, and he was critically important in the development of Bugs Bunny.
