Feb 16, 2024 · Robert Redford has been married twice and has four children. His first wife was Lola Van Wagenen, whom he married in 1958 and divorced in 1985. They had four children together: Scott, Shauna, James, and Amy. Scott died of SIDS in 1959 and James died of cancer in 2020.
Van Wagenen first received public attention as the wife of actor Robert Redford. In her own right, she was an executive producer of several films, including Miss America: A Documentary Film, broadcast on the PBS series American Experience in January 2002, and The State of Marriage, released in 2015.
Redford's ex-wife Lola was from Utah and they had built a home in the area in 1963. Portions of the movie Jeremiah Johnson (1972), a film which is both one of Redford's favorites and one that has heavily influenced him, was shot near the ski area.
