We explore works by a variety of composers ranging from Gershwin to Reich, Bernstein to Ellington, Florence Price to William Grant Still, and led by conductors including Wayne Marshall and Joana Carneiro. We also have three concerts featuring Japanese composer Jō Kondō in his 75th birthday year, including his mesmerising and powerful work for orchestra In Summer.
Our undergraduate Bachelor of Music (BMus) programme is a flexible four-year degree with a focus on principal study, alongside faculty activities and a mix of core and optional courses. A unique feature of the BMus (Hons) is that, as you progress through your four years at the RCM, discovering strengths about yourself and your practice, the flexibility of our programme allows you to shape your degree to suit your aspirations.
The Royal College of Music Museum contains the earliest known guitar, the earliest stringed keyboard instrument and the most recognised portraits of Joseph Haydn and Farinelli. Learn about these and 56 other fascinating instruments specially chosen from the RCM’s designated collection of over 14,000 items. Following a £3.6million investment from Heritage Lottery Fund, the Museum has undergone a complete redevelopment and opened to the public in October 2021.

In addition, Lloyd Webber and Rice shared the Academy Award for best original song (“ You Must Love Me ”) for the 1996 film adaptation, which starred Madonna.
