The Badwater 135 is the most extreme foot-race on earth. The 135 mile course runs over barren desert, taking in three mountain ranges, some extremely tough terrain, and soaring temperatures of up to 130F. With the added perils of flash floods and wind storms along the way, it is a miracle that anyone is capable of finishing the gruelling course.

This is an excellent video of the Badwater 135, which I highly recommend regardless if you are a runner or not. I've watched it several times and I don't think I will ever get tired of it. It features several participants of diverse backgrounds and abilities, who share one common goal - to reach the finish line at the end of 135 grueling miles.

We would be running a similar course, just adding an additional 11 miles (and 6,000+ feet) to climb to the top of Mount Whitney.

Anyone know how I can watch "Running on the Sun: The Badwater 135" legally? I really want to watch this movie, but I can't find it on iTunes, Amazon Instant Watch, or Netflix. I'm not opposed to paying money for it, but DVDs of it on Amazon are going for $74 or more!
Jul 01, 2002 · Amazing. As an avid runner and ultrarunner, it was refreshing to see the sport from his eyes. Ihad first learned of him in the documentary on the Badwater 135,Running on the Sun. this book chronicles how he first learned about the race, his trianing and time leading up to the race, and the race itself. It was a great book.
