John Ford is the biggest one, but I more admire his films more than I like them. I can't think of many. Oliver Stone makes a lot of left leaning movies, but some of his movies start leaning into like extreme far left and conspiratorial shit.
Brawl In Cell Block 99 his second film has a great teaser trailer that gives nothing away. It's one of my favorite films of the last decade. I remember reading rumors that he was semi- cancelled back in 2019-2020 for Dragged Across Concrete which I certainly hope isn't true and don't support.

I watched Dragged Across Concrete and Bone Tomahawk and they blew my mind. S. Craig Zahler has a really cool, grounded style of film making. Characters actions have real consequences and noone really feels safe, which made me invested so much more. I have Brawl in Cell Block 99 left, but I would still love if continues making movies.
