Although it's painfully clear that the claim he makes about not making "preachy" or "political" movies is just a lie to avoid controversy. I definitely think his desire to tell a good story and make an engrossing piece of art is stronger than his political leanings, but the ratio is definitely shifting with each successive film he makes.
