Saginaw, an Ojibwa (Chippewa) Indian word meaning “land of the Sauks,” developed.

Saginaw is a city in Central Michigan; it is the largest of the "Tri-Cities" of the Saginaw Bay area with Bay City and Midland. About 50,000 people (2019) live in this town, which survived an economic downturn when the logging industry ended at the turn of the 20th century.
