Sahachiro Hata was born in Tsumo village (now part of Masuda City. in Japan) as the eighth son of the Yamane family in March 1873. Tsumo village is a remote mountain village, where the Yamane family was in the sake brewing business [4]. At the age of 14, he was adopted by the Hata family, whose members had been doctors for generations.
