Ross married Sam Elliott in 1984. They were co-stars in the supernatural horror film The Legacy (1978). They had worked together on Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid , and after they were reacquainted on the set of The Legacy they began dating, and married in May 1984, four months before the birth of their daughter Cleo Rose Elliott.
